Choosing Your Wood Sealant

Roll up those sleeves, your play equipment will love you for it!

As part of your warranty, you must add a wood sealant or paint to your whole play set within 90 days for protection from the elements. Depending on your preference it may be easier to do this before assembly (especially on the roofs of our bigger play centres!)

Here is a lineup of outdoor wood sealants to consider choosing...

  • Resene Waterborne Woodsman Penetrating Oil Stain or Resene Woodsman Decking Oil Stain. These can usually be found at your local Mitre 10 or Resene shop.

  • Cabot's Deck & Exterior Stain (either oil-based or water-based). It comes in a variety of tints and can usually be found at your local Guthrie Bowron or Bunnings.

  • Natural Paint Co. Exterior Stain. This natural wood stain comes in a variety of tints and can be found on their website.

  • Alternatively, if you prefer to paint it rather than stain it, you could try Dulux Timbacryl or Dulux Weathershield (both are self-priming on most surfaces).

Depending on your weather conditions, recoats may be important. In these cases, please be sure to prep the wood first. We hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please just let us know.

Wasn't there a Forest & Frolic Wood Stain & Sealant?

Yes, there was a time we offered our own wood sealant, however after its trial, we found it was pretty difficult to successfully ship a can of paint around the country 😂.  So, for now, please support these great other paint brands 💛
